My husband preached a great message kicking off the CHOOSE sermon series. He walked us through the Israelites release from Pharaoh which you can read in Exodus 13:17-14:31
Here are a few of the high points:
Choose to put yourself in situations where God can work. (Exodus 13) The Israelites chose to follow Moses and ultimately God out of Egypt and into the desert. They put themselves relying solely on God to guide them and take them to the Promised Land.
Choose to follow God on the long path. (Exodus 13:17) Even though there was a shorter way to make it to the Promised Land, God had reason to take the long route– possible war, testing their willingness to follow Him, etc.
Choose to let God fight for you. Choose to be still. (Exodus 14:14) Even though we often have the “I’ve got this!” attitude, we need to allow God to work to allow God to receive the glory. It’s not about me. It’s all about Him!
When you choose to follow God, others will see God’s mighty hand at work. (Exodus 14:31) When you put this altogether, others will see God working in your life.
And THAT is what it means to be a follower of Christ. Letting His light shine in the midst of your life.
